My original background was in theatre and television, and later moving into administration.

And then, I had children. All at once. I am now the parent of adult triplets, all with their own diagnoses and neurodivergence.

I have had nearly 30 years’ experience of volunteering and working with families with children with additional needs and disabilities.

In 1998 I co-founded Thurrock Twins & Triplets. When my children started school I became a part of Thurrock’s Community Mums programme, supporting families navigating all aspects of parenting babies through to pre-schoolers. At the same time, I was a part of parent group that supported setting up The Sunshine Centre and ran the “Positively Autistic” group.

In 2001 I was a part of the original Scope Face to Face Befriending service in Thurrock which won both regional and national awards. In 2003 I won Candis Magazine’s Carer of the Year.

I have sat on various SEND steering groups and advisory boards both locally and nationally. In 2013 I became the chair of CaPa, Thurrock’s first Parent Carer forum. I spent 9 years as a school governor in 3 Thurrock schools, including Treetops.

In 2015 I started my ADHD journey, primarily as a result of supporting permanently excluded students in my role as SENDIASS Manager and have spent the last ten years undertaking extensive training with various organisations and professionals including The ADHD Foundation, Tony Attwood, Fintan O’Regan, Sue Larkey, and Jannine Perryman.

Since 2020 I have been running monthly parent support sessions and In 2025 the ADHD Support Service was formed to support neurodivergent people of all ages and those that work with, and care for them.
